Oh, October!

Well, finally getting around to posting those promised photos! Prepare for an onslaught. Seriously. I started going through and found Halloween related photos from the very beginning of the month. Lily prompts decorating for anything and everything early, and with 2 Halloween themed birthday parties, a school field trip to the pumpkin patch, our annual family visit to the same pumpkin patch, our annual extended family pumpkin carving party, our church party, the school carnival, and Halloween itself -- we got more than enough celebrating of that holiday this year! Don't get me wrong, I do love Halloween, as I was sewing wings for Tinkerbell I thought how much fun it is to be a mom - there aren't many jobs that have you sewing wings and doing all kinds of other interesting things you never thought about when you decided to have a kid! So thanks be to Halloween for providing fun dress-up opportunities! But I must say -- I am looking forward to Thanksgiving! A celebration mainly centering around good food - which is the most important thing for any good party, and taking it easy. Plus you can't go wrong thinking off all your blessings and remembering to be thankful! ...Candy just isn't as appealing as it used to be either. I am about ready to toss the full bucket we still have left from Lily's trick or treating - no regrets. If you know what a candy lover I've been since I was a kid you should be shocked at this.

Anyway time to load the photos!

Early October

Lily made herself into a toilet paper 'mommy' while her own Mommy was sitting right next to her on the bed doing something that made her too distracted to notice right away... Almost a full roll. Pretty sure Lily has no idea what real mummies are, or that they are not actually wrapped in toilet paper.

Finally got out the pumpkin lights I made (with some help from Mike) when we were first married. I can't even imagine having the time to do another project like that was anytime soon - especially with our space constraints. I don't think I've even taken the time to get them out since we had kids - which is over 5 years ago... I love them, the pictures don't do them justice - just kind of a hassle to get them out and we don't have our own house to decorate.

Lily and I found a spooky branch walking home from school so we added this little scene above where we hung them in the window.

We even took the extra trouble to make a couple of our ghosts in the entry way go up and down when you opened and closed the front door :)

Trick or Treating
Halloween Night

We went with a group of our neighborhood friends. It was a perfect night - not too cold, but we kept it to one street. We were all a little sick but we wanted to let them have the fun of going house to house! With our church trunk or treat - even passing all of Sierra's bucket back out - we still ended up with way too much candy!
